Argh. I still can't help hearing the Raji James song in my head whenever I read his name. Sorry that's not a question.
Q. Ray and Ed, do you still sing the Raji James song sometimes?

@Ash We tend to be the first show on at these Edinburgh Preview double headers as our set up is a little more complicated so think you'll be able to get away in good time. The show is an hour long (our bit).
@SamD Answers to questions i. Don't know and ii. no.
@YellingMelon - don't know which song you mean as there were two but the answer remains no, we are struggling enough trying to learn our own songs for Edinburgh.
Excellent. Just bought tickets to that show, looking forward to it!
surely 'the Raji song' is....." Raji, du, du, du, du, du, Raji, Du, du, du, du, du, Raji du, du, du, du, du.... JAMES ....James. (Repeat)
Am i right @YellingMelon?
There is also that mournful ballad 'Little Raji James Who Ruined Eastenders, could you come to customer services please...' which always chokes me up a little bit everytime I hear it. It's less immediate than 'Ra-ji, du du dudu du', but has more to invest in emotionally.
Indeed you are themadmunk. If I recall it was specifically designed to be catchy so as to keep Raji's name in the mind of his agent to encourage him to find him more work.
Unfortunately the song also forces Raji's name to the front of my mind far too often, which is annoying because he and I have nothing to offer each other.
Alright ray, im off to Lancashire in a couple of weeks on holiday. Convinced my parents to go to Louis Toussauds, but apart from that is there any other nice touristy places I could visit?
Also, what do you think of this article? I cant be the only person who read this and laughed out loud the whole way through it. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2016283/Michael-McIntyre-endures-jealousy-rival-comics.html
@AshChittock dunno really. Lancs is an odd holiday destination but also massive so it depends where in Lancs you go. I mean, I wouldn't even advise Louis T's really...
@Ash It made me a little bit sad to be honest. I know we have took the piss a bit, but it isn't nice to have your peers slag you off so it is fair enough he should voice his upset. That said he may take solace in the fact that he probably lives in a million pounds now.
Im staying in a hoeseasons near Morcambe for a few days. It has enough walks to keep my family entertained. Its only really a stopping point before we carry on north to centreparcs.
Also, TERRIBLE NEWS... Louis Tussads isnt Louis anymore! It's been absorbed into the Madame Tussauds chain. Well, at least we still have Yarmouth.
Me and AshChittock are the same person by the way, I just have two accounts due to email-related shenanigans.
I knew about it being a Madam Tussauds now. They also have a London Dungeon in Blackpool on the way too.
Eric Morecambe statue in Morecambe is nice but not really a day out.
What is Ed's problem with Rotherham? I know some nice people who live there
Alright? Me again. Already said it on twitter but very much enjoyed you at Colchester last tuesday - even if the rest of the audience were grumpy fuckers.
Was going to see if you were still about after the gig to buy you a drink but i wasnt sure what the protocol for sticking around afterwards was and i think you had already gone. Doesnt matter too much but i wanted to ask something.
Ive been interested in getting involved in comedy for some time, at any/all levels really, writing, promoting, performing. Only trouble is that there is literally nowhere to do comedy within 40 minutes drive of my house. The nearest place to me that did open spots closed down not too long ago, and all of the bars and clubs in the area just focus on music and have long forgotten about comedy. What can I do to get out there and get some comedy going? Bit of a big question but i reckoned you guys would be the best people to ask as you're 'in the business' etc.
Hey Ash
Thanks for coming that gig - unfortunately we shoved off whilst Steve was on but we will hopefully catch up with you next time.
Don't really know how to answer your questions as I guess most comics have very different experiences of getting to the stage of being professional. Some land on their feet and others have to carve it out a bit more. Think the overall general thing to do is to do it. If there is no open mic gig near you then start one, find a venue that will let you have their function room once a month for nothing if they can have the bar takings - that makes sound business sense for them. They will probably ultimately screw you over but you will have taken the first steps...and if you compere the evening too then you are getting your grassroots training on your own terms.
The other thing is, on a performing level, generally speaking you will have to travel a lot. So once you have stuff to do on stage, just ask around and try and get some open/short spots anyplace - think of it as investment in the future.
It'a all pretty hard and there aren't actually any rules, but if you can break the tackle then the rest is fun most of the time.
Very important question.
Who was the really pretty chap at the end of my row at the podcast recording? Can I turn this website into a dating service? Is that allowed? I'm trying anyway...
Many thanks for the advice Ray. I've followed up on it and have my first gig on the 1st of October. Ive convinced a mate to set up a comedy night in the pub he works at. We've roped a local semi-pro comic in to compere, and me and some other guys I've found are going to do some routines. Very optimistic that it will be a hit.
Favourite thing about Raji?
Serious question - before the whole Edinburgh thing, whilst you were doing your warm-up work and the podcast, what did Ed do during the week? Does he have a 'day job', or does he just live off his stand-up earnings?
Well he doesn't appear to be homeless yet so am assuming he makes enough to live.
I don't know if this counts as a valid 'f.a.q' or not, but I'm not sure where else to put it. I noticed that every time the end music kicks in there is a little laugh that fades in with it briefly. It sounds like Ed laughing, but it could be part of the song. I thought that it might just be lifted from the end of one of the podcasts and a bit of laughter got in, but I don't know.
So I guess the question is, what is it? Sorry it's a rubbish one. Maybe I can think of another better one to go with.
Got one!
I've always been impressed with how naturally Ed calls you Ray on the podcast and in the live shows I've been to. I guess it's just like any other acting because Ray is your character, but it's still good. Does he have to refer to you as Ray in your normal times as well to get used to it? And does he ever accidentally call you by your real name and ruin a section?
