Indeed the fall are one of the few bands i could listen to daily and still find mind blowing, the songs never lose their energy, mystery or wisdom, truly a life changing band.

If you like Randy Newman why not listen for a bit to Warren Zevon like I have been doing loads? He writes funny lyrics and has stories in his songs in a good way.

That reminds me i must track down copies of 'life'll kill ya' 'my ride's here' and 'The Wind' the three albums about death Mr Zevon recorded before he died i've heard good things about those are they worth tracking down?

James Blake's new EP Klavierworke (wonky post-dubstep)
Salem (witch house, apparently!?)
Timber Timbre
S.Carey (drummer from Bon Iver)
oOoOO EP
Balam Acab
Lower Dens
Deerhunter
Loads of other wanky stuff no one cares about 'cos it's a bit pretentious.

Dear God by XTC has become my top song at the moment.
Posted 2 months ago # -
Dear God is a fantastic song, sums up a lot about religion for me and XTC have delivered many wonderful tunes. Summer's Cauldron from the same album is one of my favourites. Andy Partridge is a seriously underrated guitarist.
As for The Tiger Lillies I only discovered them because of The Podcast. Big fan now and had the privilege of seeing them live in the Pleasance Courtyard during this years Edinburgh Fringe Festival. A gloriously debauched Weimaresque evening.Posted 2 months ago # -
Right that's me off on an XTC binge now (meaning the band)...

Lately I've been listening to a lot of 80's hardcore punk albums, so a lot of Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Minutemen, Big Black etc.
The last few songs that came up on my ipod:
El-P- Tasmanian Pain Coaster
Best Coast- Boyfriend
Crass- Nagasaki Nightmare
Led Zeppelin- Over the Hills and Far Away
Heltah Skeltah- Sean Price
Los Campesinos!- My Year in List
DVDA- I am Chewbacca
Black Star- RespirationPosted 2 months ago # -
For some first rate hardcore punk might i recommend:
Back From Samoa By Angry Samoans
A Collection Of Pop Classics By Reagan Youth
And anything by Husker Du is, of course, ace
I've been listening to Raw Power by the stooges (superior iggy pop 1997 re mix)
It's Only Right And Natural by The Frogs (Exaggerates homosexual stereotypes in order to defend it and piss off right-wingers)
And The Drift By Scott Walker (Disturbing/Unintentionally funny)

Listening to loads of Michael Bolton for some reason. Currently listening to Go The Distance on YouTube, which is probably my favourite song of his. Very moving and inspiring. Contrastingly been listening to a lot of Power Metal too, mostly Sonata Arctica and Sabaton. Good stuff.

Off to see The Duke Spirit support BRMC in a bit. I've missed them, while they've been travelling, probably the band I've seen the most times!

I can't stop listening to 'Send in the clowns' Frank Sinatra's version, for reason which are beyond me I always equate the song to the strange melancholy that inevitable comes with the christmas times, really hits hard when I listen to it at the moment.

Here are three bands I am listening to alot of at the moment. They are very different. Yep, I am super eclectic. And kewl.
Opeth
Jonathan Coulton
Ugly DucklingThere we go then.

I don't know who the other two are, but I couldn't approve more of the Opeth if I tried. Phenomenal stuff.
I discovered they have Ghost of Perdition on my SU jukebox a few weeks ago. The atmosphere's never quite been the same again. They've also got Therion and Porcupine Tree. Keeps me happy. No Dream Theater though. Bastards.Posted 4 days ago # -
