1 Man, 1 Jar

  1. Curiosity got the better of me (unfortunately), and I had to watch it. Cheers Ray and Ed for nearly making me do a sick on my new shirt. :(

Right, well I hated it also but Ed made me watch it.

I shall now officially warn everyone that it is horrific and I have no idea why Ed laughs so much at it but he does. It isn't nice and don't watch it.

Ditto - in fact, much more for - the Budd Dwyer video we spoke about in Ed's Amazing Deaths this week. Genuinely not worth it for the upset it shall cause you.

And the same also goes for if Channel 4 are repeating "Stand Up for the week".

to be honest it possibly has more artistic merit than "Stand Up for the week".

I've heard that there are loads of "Stand-Up For The Week" reaction videos on Youtube. Too scared to watch it meself.

I am most sensible of you lot because I only watch the reaction videos.

I first saw One Man, One Jar over a year ago. Funnily enough it was also on a podcast. I'm not one who shocks easily, but that is one of the few videos that I never go back and re-watch. I do think, however, it should be shown in schools as a cautionary tale, or as part of a presentation entitled "Do Wanks Properly Or You'll Bleed Out Your Arse."

I watched the Budd Dyer video after the episode of the RP Podcast when Ray told Raji to check it out. It's a fascinating video. Disturbing but fascinating. I used it as part of video I did for Destructoid about how videogames don't desensitize people to violence, as anti-game critics claim.

Trust me ... videogames do NOT desensitize you. If you're not disturbed by Budd Dyer, then you have far worse problems than having played God of War too much.

'One man, One Jar' is pretty bad. I've still not watched 'Two Girls, One Cup'...but I think I've heard enough about it not to bother.

I'm another one who watched the Budd Dwyer video after Ray mentioned it the last time...and then told all my friends to watch it. For someone who doesn't recommend watching it, you mention it an awful lot(twice in 2 years, for fuck sake). So I think Ray really wants us to watch it. Go on, watch it. It's not too bad.

Joking aside though, I know what you mean about it changing you. There is something quite staggering about seeing someone walking, talking and being well one second and then being slumped on the floor with his brain missing the next.

Being both a regular on 4chan and having watched five minutes of "Stand Up For the Week", I must admit I am not wincing at this stuff anymore than when I first saw it. Saying that, Budd's little video changed me too. One of my biggest heroes is the one camera man present who not only carried on filming but zoomed in on his face.

Ray's podcasts have so far covered 2 girls 1 cup, Budd Dwyer, Mr. Hands and Glass Ass. This is impressive. SModcast have only managed Glass Ass, 2 girls and Mr. Hands to my memory and Ricky Jingle can't do internet because he thought the Landboro Baptist site was real.

Budd is one of those things I wish I could erase from my memory. Bit scared to seek out One Man, One Jar but know I probably will at some stage.

I would like Ray to cover that video where the Japanese woman has an entire dead octopus up her fanny.

I think it would be better if Ed was forced to watch these horrible videos and do a commentary on them as he did with Richard the Wanker.

Not likely to happen though, ever since he got his name in the title he thinks he's too good for such thing(he only did it last week as a special present to Raji whose favourite section it was).
    Such a fucking diva.

Oh...I watched it. I got the Japanese vibe from her as well, Jim. I immediately thought of sushi.

Ray: It's all in the voice. There is a very particular way in which Japanese girls make porn noises. If she is not Japanese, she certainly has the classic Japanese porn voice down perfectly. Not that I am an expert on Japanese porn or anything (although I did order some off the telly when I was in Tokyo, but it was a swizz because they pixelated the minge out because that is what they do in Japan a lot).

Also, doing some research, I noticed there is now another octopus fanny video where the octopus appears to be alive. Must be a sequel or something.

    Poor octopus.

    Jesus effing Christ.
How long has this forum been active and ALREADY there's talk of live octopuses up women's lady-holes.
    This can only get worse.

    The_Fresh_Pen - I think you'll find it is Octopi.

Actually it might not be cos there was only one.

It would have been better if you had written "talk of a live octopus up a woman's lady-hole".

Not criticising - it is more constructive if anything.

And Ed did you genuinely put "octopussy"?

The Dwyer clip is horrific, I have even seen a dance remix version of it. Honestly. The back story to Dwyer is interesting if you can be arsed reading up on him.

The guy who did the jar video has a couple of others out there, try looking for One Man, One Screwdriver is you want to see what it looks like when a man shoves a screwdriver, blunt end first, down his jappa. Pretty fucked up. Plus you get a little look inside his home which looks like something from a Saw film.

Jason Cook once sent me links to these things to freak me out but there was one (which I will not name) which really shocked me to the very core, I would be surprised if it even exists on the net anymore.

Thanks ever so for the feedback Ray.
I shall bear it all in mind the next time I'm writing about a similar subject.
There's three collective nouns for those tentacled sods of the sea.
Octopi, Octopuses and finally the lesser known Octopods, (a cursory glance at wikipedia informed me of this so I'm almost 40% certain that it is definitely true). All apparently acceptable.
    This country eh?

Don't know why I keep doing this on every forum because everyone hates me for it but listen once you know this you can correct others who say it and be as hated as me!

"The plural form octopi is often defined as a hypercorrection. The Oxford English Dictionary lists octopuses, octopi and octopodes (in that order); it labels octopodes "rare", and notes that octopi derives from the "apprehension" that octōpūs is a second declension Latin noun, though it is not." - Wikipedia

Since people often wrongly assume Wikipedia to be full of mistakes I will use my tax payer funded subscription to the OED online:

"The plural form octopodes reflects the Greek plural; compare OCTOPOD n. The more frequent plural form octopi arises from apprehension of the final -us of the word as the grammatical ending of Latin second declension nouns; this apprehension is also reflected in compounds in octop-: see e.g. OCTOPEAN adj., OCTOPIC adj., OCTOPINE adj., etc.]"

Hypercorrection is a really interesting concept, it basically accounts for language that is formed through a mass insistence that an incorrect grammatical presumption is actually correct. Eventually Octopi will be acceptable (in fact it probably already is) and when that day comes I will start making the plural of bus "bi".

Also: Octopussy is a far better name than OctopusGirl.

Yes but is an octopus even a real thing?

Has anyone actually seen one in real life and I don't mean on a film I mean in real and I don't mean eating one of them pretend ones they sometimes do in restaurants I mean an actual real moving one and not on a film which could be cgi or mechanical?

I would put forward the motion that Octopusseses don't exist.

PS. And Barry is right, the background story of Budd Dwyer is genuinely interesting. Bit of a drama queen though eh?

Yep. Motion passed. Does this mean we can't pluralise made up things?

Evidence that many octopuses what can be seen on telly are just CGI.

The octopus, (or squid, are they different or not?), that Oh Dae-Su ate in the film "Oldboy" was purportedly real.

The terrifying thing about the Dwyer video is how it doesn't look like you expect from the films but then as he slumps the blood suddenly gushes all over the floor. Hideously one friend was sent it by another as a "Here, this is a funny one!"

How things change. I'm amazed Channel 4 haven't made a spin-off Cannibal Apocalypse sitcom these days.
