X-Men was awesome and I enjoyed Super 8, though I can see why someone wouldn't. Watched "Crocodile" Dundee for the first time. Best movie ever is still Jurassic Park.

Yeah, X Men FC was quality, especially compared to the other X-Men movies. The Take That song was awesome too. Sorry, Ray, but Take That are one of my best ones of music and im not even a girl or nothing.

Anyone seen Comic Strip Presents Eat the Rich. It's a great dark British comedy

Finally sat through a cut of Blade Runner that wasn't the theatrical one and I'm sorry to say I still don't get it. I'll admit it's visually stunning, in fact one of the most beautiful films to look at and listen to I have ever seen, the world it creates remains one of a kind to this day and yet I can't get over the inherent problems with the story.
Why has Tyrell not been sued to fuck and shut down considering their tendancy to make super strong killing machines with a tendancy to go mental to a point where the police have to create their own division of fucking supercops to sort them out?
Considering the aforementioned tendancy, why have clones be exact human replicants, impossible to distinguish from a human without a Voight-Kampff test? Surely that's just complicating matters if anything does go wrong.
What advantage could there ever be to giving such creations fake memories and emotions? There's plenty more things to add to that list but I can save them for another time, I guess it's me, considering how highly rated it is across the boards, but I've always thought if i'm noticing holes like that then there is a much bigger problem with the film in the first place. I accept that it's an exceptional and incredibly important film in terms of design, it's just a poorly told story underneath that.
@Sam below, that is comofrting to hear, Avatar thing is a lovely analogy for it.

Not just you. It is an attractive film, but that doesn't make up for what is essentially a boring and flawed plot. It's the Avatar of the 80's.
Just watched City of Life and Death. I highly recommend it. Really gives you an idea of what kind of horrors were carried out in Nanking without just being 2 hours of gore and violence, which it so easily could have been with lesser filmmakers.

Just got back from seeing Senna. Fantastic and respectful docu-film, and anyone with an interest in motor sports should definitely see it.

Anyone without an interest in motor sports should see it too, I absolutely hate Formula One, pretty much any sport to do with cars in fact yet I found the documentry extraordinarily gripping, I think pretty much anyone would.

I am watching a DVD of Pingu episodes, I love Pingu but this DVD is pissing me off, they've changed all the music, not just the theme tune but the original music that played in the episodes too, the first episode is the one where Pingu and the egg dance to a song and the song is completely different, that just made me aware that even the second long sounds have changed. I'm very confident they've changed some of the dubbing on certain episodes too, why would you re-dub nonsense?

Couldn't sleep so I just watched Big Lebowski. Love that film so much. The Dude abides.

Watched 13 Assassins today. Very good movie because it made me hate the villain and care for the samurais out to kill him.

Thought I'd jump in here with my first post, hello all!
The last film I watched that made me wanna go off and tell everyone to watch it was a documentary - 'Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father'. It feels twisted to say that it's good as the story is so awful and you feel for the family and friends of Andrew so much, particularly his parents, but it's kind of beautiful in the way that the story is told. It really is worth a watch, it made me feel tense, frustrated and angry and I guarantee that you won't get through it without getting choked up.

I went to see The Tree of Life this past week. I know a lot of people are walking out and thinking it's arty crap, but I really enjoyed it. I think it does a good job encapsulating the universe and how it's viewed through the eyes of a young American boy in the 1950s. Awesome move, extremely recommend. Also, I know it's not a movie, but I've finally gotten into Alan Partridge. Steve Coogan's only really known over here for Night at the Museum, which is a real shame. I listened to the radio show and now I'm watching Knowing Me, Knowing You. I'm loving it. It's official, British comedians, most of the time, are funnier than American ones. A-ha.

Hobo with a shotgun.
Its like a blacksheep/braindead/bad taste sort of thing with Rutger Hauer whispering through it.Posted 2 months ago # -
Xmen 1st Class - Gash! Incessant bloody music got right on my top note. And it seemed to have been written by a 10 year old boy.

Just seen Captain 'Merica. Thought it was good but a couple of things bugged me. The last act wasnt quite as good as the first two, and I didnt like the portrayal of Peggy Carter at all - seemed like they intended for her to be Princess Leia but she still came across a little too ditzy and lovestruck for someone who is supposed to be an important military figure.

Watched Trainspotting for the first time since I was 14. Much better this time and I recognized Princes Street so that was cool. Much funnier this time too. I think I might watch some Louis C.K. specials now.
