Has anyone actually seen A Serbian Film? If so, where and is it worth a watch?
Me and Ed watched it together last week in a hotel room. Horrific. Somebody gave us a screener copy which I believe Ed destroyed afterwards as we were unsure of the legality of it on so many levels.
Matrix: Reloaded. I thought it was better than the first one.
Having seen A Serbian Film, all i will say is don't watch it. It's not a good film with shock tactics, its a pretty mediocre film with nothing but ridiculous shock tactics. The soundtrack is wicked though, i'll give it that.
Watched shitloads of films lately. Social Network, Godfather 1 and 2, Million Dollar Baby, Seven Samurai, Internal Affairs, Psycho, Spirited Away. They were all pretty awesome tbh. I saw finding nemo too which i thought was shit, shame cause i usually like pixar stuff.
Watched Get Him to the Greek last night. I liked Diddy eating little versions of his own head when Jonah Hill drank absinthe.
I watched Kung Fu Hustle recently. Very good film.
seconded.
thirdeded. fucking love it, and if you like that i would highly recommend saolin soccer, and possibly kung pow
Finally got round to watching the new Star trek film and fucking adored it, as much explosive fun as you could ever hope for. Kung Fu Hustle is indeed awesome also.
Just read about A Serbian Film on Wikipedia. genuinely feel sick just reading about that tbh Ray. I often feel the humour in the podcast isn't to sickening for me (what this says about my own psychological state is probably negative) but A Serbian Film sounds just to dark and horrific.
A Serbian Film sounds worse than Antichrist (when it comes to graphic content, the story was good).
It is a lot worse than Antichrist could ever dream of being, just horrible and shallow, it's the only film I can think of that I genuinely regret watching, and I've seen Transformers 2.
Antichrist did my fucking head in - so far up its own arse. Really shit, pretentious film for mine.
Lar's Von Trier tends to make films just to piss people off, few films are as ugly and pretentious and just blatantly mysoginist as Breaking the Waves.
I just watched Pirahna Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death. Enjoyed the hell out of it, the title echoes those awfully boring pieces of Troma shit like Teenage Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell. Don't confuse it with such awful films as that, this i s a clever, hilarious feminist satire and criminally underlooked piece of work.

Fucking amazing. Can't wait.
SamD - Cool. At first I thought WTF is this then the tone changed and now I can't wait either. Looks brilliant. I'm sure my kids (5&8) will love it as well. Might wait until xmas eve...he he.
^ Excellent trailer, hopefully it won't turn out as another Santa's Slay. Just watched Triangle, fucking great film from start to finish.
Just watched 'Martyrs'. In the same vein as some of the rather grim efforts mentioned above ie ASM, A/christ etc. Seen it now, wished I hadn't. Never mind. Gonna watch Andrzej Żuławski's "Possession" now. A different class. Oh and recently watched Triangle at the recommendation of A Predator up there. Excellent film. Thanks. Good use of location with all those endless creepy cabins and some nice spot-the-Shining-refs bits. Watch "Possession".
^ Martyrs at least knows what it is though, it doesn't have any pretentions towards smug artyness or pathetic social commentry, it's just a good straighforward nasty piece of work. Possesion is one of the great unsung masterpieces of all time in my eyes, absolutely adore that film.
Just watched The Adventures of Mark Twain, known for this particularly creepy sequence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqi5F5MqqTQ
It's really good, great voice acting, a delightfully weird plot and a terrific script. "Nothing exists save empty space and you, and you are but a thought" Is one of the greatest lines ever written.
A Predator-You are right about Martyrs of course. It was what it was and nothing else with no pretensions unlike some of the other films mentioned. Didn't do it for me though. Thanks for the much needed memory jog on the Mark Twain. I hadn't seen this in years and had completely forgotten about it. Have you seen the films of Alejandro Jodorowsky such as El Topo or Santa Sangre? (I'll bet you have...)Anyone else who hasn't should do so forthwith. Tim has spoken.
^ Tis a pleasure. El Topo is insanely good, have a huge soft spot for surrealism so it pushes my happy buttons perfectly. I do own Santa Sangre but haven't gotten round to it, unfortunately it is currently 200 miles away, will procure it soon and watch i, or just download it tonight.
Just watched Naked, suffice to say it is one of my best films ever made, David Thewlis at his absolute best, intense, horrible and fucking hilarious.
Naked is brilliant. Love the bit with the security guard the most. Wormwood / Chernobyl etc. I like most Mike Leigh anyway but Naked is out and out favourite.
If you like surrealism I'm wondering if you have seen "Last Year in Marienbad"?
It is indeed, tis an absolutely terrific scene, they all are, one of my favourite lines of all time comes out the scene after it, "You don't want to fuck me, you'll catch something cruel". He does have a wonderful output.
I haven't seen that one, it's slipped under my radar completely till now, sounds very intriguing, shall get hold of it.
Just saw Deathly Hallows. It's really good, very funny, ocassionally scary and terribly sad, easily the second best after Azkaban.
All warm and snug in bed watching the Big Lebowski. Possibly my favourite comedy film ever.
Watched the two Nolan Batman films again today, remain convinced that Begins is by far the stronger of the two.
went and saw jackass 3D the other day, and tbh its the only movie ive seen that i felt deserved to be in 3D. extremely good.
JonJonB, couldn't agree more with you on the batman thing, Dark Knight has a slight length problem along with Rachal being even more annoying and shrewishly written than ever and that stupid Batman voice dragging it down a little.
I just watched the animated Batman: Mask of Phantasm, counting it as a Batman film I place it just below Begins, it's really entertaining, intelligent, dark and beautiful to look at.
