I have watched well loads of films.
What does everyone reckon to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World? Wasn't struck on the trailer, but was surprised at how good the reviews were. Got really excited for it, and really enjoyed it, being a big ol' nerd like what I am one of. It was a beautiful film. The plot didn't make much sense and the line between metaphor and reality was... paper-thin, but it was one of those films that you just watch and let yourself dissolve into. The direction was stunning, the actors really strong, liked all the characters (though if I were Michael Cera I'd've just a. been a bit less creepy and b. found someone less likely to mess me about, but that'd mean bypassing the entire plot), loved the atmosphere, got all excited when the "VS." bit came up. It was tacky, bright, exciting, funny, and I got it all beamed right into my eyes for free and everything. Deffo recommend it.
Inception's right good, too. I usually don't like a film that takes itself so seriously - I watch films for escapism and to enjoy myself, and that usually involves a few laughs - but I thought it was really, really strong. Engrossing.
Saw Kick-Ass recently, and I thought it was fairly cool, but it didn't live up to the hype. I found the bit at the start, where he was just a rubbish action hero, to be the most interesting. When he'd dive into his costume and then get stabbed repeatedly. That was a really cool deconstruction of the genre, I really enjoyed that bit. The rest was a little more mindless, but good for what it was. I liked the bit where he was putting lotion on the girl who had her busters all hanging out (mucky pup).
