Yes - just got a phone call about this. Absolutely gutted - not just because of the £80 hotel and the £26 train fare I paid out over a month ago when I bought the tickets, but because I really wanted to see the show, and this is one of my only chances.
The theatre has kindly refunded my ticket cost, but have kept the postage costs "for the inconvenience" - proper inconvenience that - they get a night off, and I have to stay in a hotel in Welwyn Garden City (a place I genuinely thought was made up until I googled it...).
Overall - not happy at all. I've spent ages telling friends / family / people on the bus etc about this tour - it's going to make me look a bit of a tool if dates are called off at short notice.
Anyway - shouldn't be too cross, there's bound to be a good reason for it. Ray/Ed - hope you're both ok.
The management refused to pay the staff for Fridays show apparently. Sorry for the fact you have payed out so much and I hope you gave them a piece of your mind.
I feel sorry for Ray / Ed as it is a lost show for them.
Absolutely gutting for people that paid out so much for this. Welwyn Garden City should be considered now an official enemy of the Army.
From now on it will be considered that Lady Garden City makes the lemonade and it's round the corner from Welwyn Garden City.
We absolutely did not cancel this gig - we are very very fucked off about it, and especially annoyed now to hear that some of you are losing even more. It is also disgusting that the venue are not refunding every penny you have spent and this will be mentioned in our correspondence with them tomorrow (they are also implying that we pulled it - they called Avalon this morning and said venue manager would not let us use the theatre it has been booked in as it hasn't sold enough tickets). It is totally out of our control and we tried all day to sort it out - the theatre manager simply wasn't budging on it. We will totally sort any of you that had tickets for this show with tickets at our cost for any other date on the tour/Edinburgh. Sincerest apologies (although cannot emphasise enough that it was not our doing).
Thank god you've got such a big management company behind you in Avalon. They should pack some punch
Hi Ray.
Sorry to bump this old thread, but I can't work out how to message you directly.
You mentioned above that you could sort me out with tickets to a show at a later date in the tour - well i've been twice now and totally forgotten about it. Anyway, me and my wife were going to come to your leeds date on 28th Oct - is it too late to sort a ticket out for then?
Apologies if so...
Cheers
Kev.
Yep no probs. Click on 'contact us' on the front page and remind me a couple of days before it.
WelHat sent out a survey asking me to help them and my short but to the point email reply was
I would like to help you but after the Peacock and Gamble fiasco why should I?
I am sorry if you are just front line staff at WelHat but the Campus west management have lost my support.
It was mine (and many other people's) chance of seeing this rising duo in comedy locally and your management screwed that up.
Sorry but no dice
Bernard Randall
Cheers Ray - will do.
