Did a naughty download of the season premiere.
If you like your zombies you'll love this. 5 stars (some funny bits).

Pretty sure they are premiering it over here on FX HD on 5th Nov. I think that was the channel anyway - can probably wait till then but I know Ed done a naughty download as well. Dunno if he liked it or not.

very much enjoyed this, great acting and great job by the art department IMO.

It was very good. Impressive amount of atmosphere with a far better build than the comic had, if you ask me. They did well for the first episode, even if some of the acting leaves just a little to be desired.

Andrew Lincoln's accent is a bit off, but aside from that it's a decent enough yarn so far. I'm zero interested in the love triangle sub-plot involving her off of Prison Break, who is appalling. And sickly thin. Some of the zombie makeup is immense and some of it is only ok.
Some real moments of well-built suspense. Hope they go the right way with this and just continue to have it an all-out zombie splatter survival show rather than delving into conspiracy realms of 'the company' or 'the government' who 'unleashed some airborne blah blah blah' for whatever reason. Shows and films that do that largely miss the point of what a zombie flick is supposed to be - run like fuck while smashing in the undead's heads. With some Mad Max stuff thrown in for good measure. This is the show that the pitiful UK Survivors should have been. Minus the older Scottish bird with big baps and annoying accent but who you probably still would.Posted 1 month ago # -
I am watching the 3rd ep now. Jim - you are right about there being a way better build up, they are taking their time with it rather than taking the cues too much from the comic, which would involve just diving straight in without much character development. That works for the comic, but I think I might feel a bit cheated if they did that on telly.
If they keep adding stuff and spinning out the story whilst following the main thread of the comics, this series is going to last longer than Eastenders. Which is good, because I like brains and shouting.
Quite frankly, I just can't wait for The Governor to appear. But judging by their pacing, that will be around 2050.

Having not read the comics, I still love this show. Any show that starts with a 7-year old getting shot in the face, and progresses to a dismembered torso crawling around a field is a 5 star show for me.

I am on episode three and loving it so far. I was a bit put off by Egg's accent in the first episode, but he's either improved or I've become immune. The bit with the tank in ep01 was top stuff.
Apparently, season 2 has already been commissioned as well.Oh, look, someones dropped episode 4 down the back of me sofa...

I'm trying so hard to like this show because who doesn't love Egg/Grimes shooting up zombies? Classic Grimes! But man alive there is some bad acting/writing in this show, like made for tv movie bad. And aside from Grimes, the crossbow redneck and maybe the pizza delivery kid I kind of hate all of the characters, both of those blonde women are insufferable, the Faulkner quoting fella was just embarrassing and from episode to episode I forget what Grimes' wife even looks like, I cannot picture her and I've just finished watching the last episode.
I'm gonna stick with it but god, it's bloody bad at times.

I have decided that if you like the books you are gonna struggle with the series.
It is like reading the books again but you are only allowed to read one panel a minute. Just find it frustrating and have decided not to continue with it.Posted 1 month ago # -
Overall I like the series although I agree that the pacing is rather laboured.
It feels hard to believe that we're almost done with this series as it doesn't seem to be building towards anything as yet.Having read the comics I have an idea where it's going but my friend, who's yet to read them, is losing interest pretty fast.I'm sticking with it.(I did think it was a little suspect that the ONLY prominent black character was called "T-Dog" and wore a shirt with "Brooklyn" on it. I half expected him to break into a spontaneous rap.)Posted 1 month ago # -
See, my exact problem with the comics was the pacing. Everything felt so rushed. At least in the show, characters are being given time to develop and there's a sense of built of tension.
Like last night's episode. The sub-plot of this episode is covered in about two panels of the comic, with no build at all. In this one, they actually made a *plot* out of it, rather than an a brief aside that carried no emotional weight.I always got the impression that the comic was rushing to get things out of the way. I appreciate that the show actually cares enough about its characters to develop them.Posted 4 weeks ago #
